With high school support for League of Legends growing across North America, the RSAA Board of Advisors recommended adding a high school educator to the group. Ashley’s addition concludes a public search that included 30 applicants.

Ashley is a high school educator, esports coach, and lifelong gamer. Starting in Fall 2020, Ashley will begin a new role teaching Audio and Film Technology at Dodge County High School in Georgia. She will support the launch of the school’s esports program and serve as a coach. She also supports the growth of high school esports programs across Georgia as a PlayVS Super Coach.

Previously, Ashley taught at Colquitt County High School. From 2018 to 2020 Ashley helped grow Colquitt County’s esports program into one of the largest in the state of Georgia.

Currently, Ashley is working on a doctorate dissertation involving the male and female experiences of adolescents involved in high school Esports programs.

Ashley is a lifelong gamer. She grew up in the 90’s playing games with her father, and she continues playing today with her husband.

“Esports is the next evolution of sports. Being a coach in high school, I have personally seen the benefits of Esports for students. Many of my students in Packer Esports went from shy and anti-social to strong team leaders with excellent communication skills. Many of them learned critical-thinking, teamwork, communication, improved coordination, multitasking skills, and much more. Esports provides unique opportunities for students to develop important social and cognitive skills, provides them a safe environment in which to grow, and offers them an incredible future.

“I want to be a part of that process to help students across America experience the joy of being involved in esports.“
